After trialling meals as our corresponding Buy One, Give One donation, we returned to clothing item gifts for the Summer of 2018. This collection featured a twist on one of our OG designs, the Box Logo, as well as the release of the Cursive Logo. This resulted in the donation of a further 65 t-shirts to Berry Street Victoria, bringing our tally of clothing item donations to 150.
In 2018, we partnered with Ziggy's Eatery to trial a twist on the Buy One, Give One initiative. We had been long time customers and admirers of Ziggy's, a staple dine-in and takeout eatery serving mouth-watering and innovative takes on traditional American and Middle Eastern fast-food dishes. Business owners, Assaf and Moshik, have always taken great pride in supporting their community via various in-store initiatives, and so it was the perfect match for us.
After a successful initial release, we partnered with Merchants of Change at the South Melbourne Market for our first storefront appearance. We chose to partner with Merchants due to their commitment to sourcing aspirational products from around the globe that promote socially conscious initiatives, and aim to support local communities worldwide.
Upon returning from our exchange in Canada, and the outpour of positive feedback we had received from our recipients, donors, and peers, we decided that On Your Behalf had a life beyond just a class project. Additionally, similar gaps in equality could be observed in our very own home city of Melbourne, Australia.
On Your Behalf was born in a New Venture Creation class whilst on a study exchange in Ottawa, Canada. The class was assessed by taking a concept from ideation to implementation by semesters end. Despite our appreciation for the city, we could not ignore the disturbing levels of homelessness in its downtown area, and the ensuing lack of local support being offered to these individuals.
